I'm re-reading Ghosts of the Future a Sonic fan-comic by @spiritsonic and it's so inspirational to read! I think every Sonic fan, artists especially, should read it! I started reading it pretty early on (which was many years ago, I was likely still in high school), and I kept up with it for ages, watching the art change overtime! Even some of the early art is super cool! And of course I'm finally re-reading now that I'm back into Sonic hardcore, and I'm having so much fun!

This comic is like a love letter to the series! To the games, even to the Archie comics! When I tell you that I went crazy when frickin Scourge showed up, I really did! And that he's used so well?! I can't wait to re-read that part! So many other characters too from Archie!

But also the designs of Sonic and Shadow in the series are fire!

And not to mention the ART OMG? And COLOURING?! Even the non coloured pages are amazing and so expressive!

BUT ALSO THE STORY? HEllo??? VERY COOL!

Probably my fav fan series! It just has so much to appreciate and the references to other Sonic media are always amazing!

I always imagine this kinda dynamic with my Hazbin Hotel OC Naichi trying to comfort Alastor, she's 100% the type of person to fumble so badly but in such a hilarious way that she somehow succeeds, and I imagine my very first OC i ever made, Sayuka, would be like that too when comforting her friends Mono, Kirishi, and Midashite- while those three have their own different flaws and ways of doing it. Mono kinda just chills out next to them and shows them memes until they feel better since she's really bad with words, Kirishi always gives them stuff and sings and does literally everything possible to try and help so it feels a little smothering but it's so sweet, and Midashite is mute so she'd either communicate through writing and drawing and be fairly good at it or she'd just become a living plushie for the time being and let the person snuggle her until they feel better and it's just AUUUUGGGHH I've thought SO MUCH about how it'd go comforting and being comforted by all my characters and it makes me SO HAPPY thinking about it. And thinking about who'd be best at comforting who and in what situations and thinking up these whole elaborate scenarios it's just EEEEEEE

it's like YEEEESSS the flaws and different ways to do it and how some methods click perfectly with one person but would make someone else feel worse are EXACTLY what make it so fun to think about, ESPECIALLY when you're putting two ultra-mega-stubborn endearing assholes up against each other with one trying to comfort the other while they actively try to not be comforted, it's 100% a thing that would happen all the time with Sayuka and Mono or Naichi and Alastor and it's just AAAAA and then there's Kirishi and Midashite who are both absolute emotion-sponge sweethearts and they'd probably end up both crying together and then both comforting each other and AAAAA it'd be SO CUUUUUTEEEEE, and then there's my OC Jolly who's just plain terrible at comforting people and nine times outta ten makes them feel worse, but then very rarely with certain people she has sort of these more clear moments and she actually acts genuinely so sweet even though she's usually an insensitive asshole and i LOVE IT, and we've also got the licensed therapist, Willow, who's pretty damn good at it, although her most obvious strength is being an adorable little floofer that can literally cheer anyone up just by existing, she's amazing at helping people going through long-term things and trying to heal and move past trauma. Meanwhile, her flaws mostly come from doing that- often having emotional burnout and a mountain of other mental issues that I plan to give her an entire character arc about. She's supposed to be a wholesome character, but also very true to life, and i LOVE writing characters like that.

my favorite kind of hurt/comfort dynamic is when the person who is doing the comforting isn't perfect at it. maybe they can only act in accordance to the context they have and miss the mark sometimes, maybe they don't really know what to say, maybe they flub their words or their own emotions break through their surface and they can't perform to textbook-level perfection. maybe, even, the act of comforting the other person actually is an inconvenience on them. but they still do it anyway, they try so hard, they struggle in their own way, and they put it all on the line and try their best no matter the hurdles because they love the person so much, and that love is shown through every misstep and correction and fumble

Favorite moment - (royal and strikers spoilers) in maruki's reality when everyone realizes everything is fucked and he comes to the rescue!!!! i flipped out i was like YEAH THATS MY BOY!!! also when he tells the mysterious voice to shut the fuck up in strikers. love that for him.

Idea for a story - surfer au. this au is so much in my head. there is so much. mona is literally a regular cat in this au and he sits on the gang's surfboards. ryuji and morgana have a whole friendship arc even though he's literally just a cat in this au.

Unpopular opinion - doesn't like watching sports unless he's there at the game in person because the energy is fun. i have no idea if this is actually an unpopular opinion or not. like he kinda gives dudebro but he's like not actually a dudebro. doesn't know the difference between a touchdown and a field goal.

Favorite relationship - ship-wise i love pegoryu. just guys being dudes. otherwise i think about him and ann's friendship so much, and shiho too. they're the only characters who already knew each other long before p5 time of action and they are besties you cannot change my mind. also him and sophia are so cute. he's like she's my found family now i protect her with my life

Favorite headcanon - i love when people draw him with a knee brace or smth like that. also i love thinking up headcanons about what music characters would like/listen to, i think he likes rock and metal but he could not tell you the difference between the two. secretly likes vocaloid but would never tell.

Okay so I could go on forever about the two stories but I shall keep it as concise as possible

I loved both of them, honestly some of the best Quizzy content I’ve ever seen out there. I think “Studied and Praised” would probably be my favourite if I had to pick, I loved the way the tragedy unfolded in “Whiskey and Teeth” (not that this one wasn’t tragic too) but the sheer detail you put into character backstories is stellar, and I think the length of “Studied and Praised” helped draw that out a bit more. Loved the Sith legends, too, I’m always down for lore like that. They were both so wonderful oh my god

Aaaand I have to know, how many siblings does HRH have? And (if you’ve thought of it) what happened on the journey to Exegol? Because I bet that was NOT a fun conversation oof

Eeeeeee thankyousomuch!!! I am glad you enjoy them both! I did a lot of research for Studied and Praised, almost every bit of Sith lore I included was canon. The only bits I embellished were like, giving dates for the design inspiration of Fortress Inquisitorius, and some of the details in the paragraph where HRH is inferring where Exegol should be. All their jokes and everything were based on real tidbits I found about sacred Jedi and Sith text, which I thought Inky would get a real kick out of.

My only real regrets were, because of the length, there were some things I kind of had to cut or shorten. Originally HRH and Inky were supposed to have a longer conversation about HRH's family, but it felt a little out of place. HRH has four siblings that they know of, an older brother and three sisters, HRH is somewhere in the middle of them. The nibling is not Rey, as that timeline doesn't work out quite right, it's too early. But I'm sure if the Emperor had one secret grandkid, they could have had many.

Also, I really wanted to continue to show the full interactions with HRH's guards afterwards, but it didn't feel quite right, and so I didn't feel like I got to wrap that up very cleanly. But Renson, based on his age and HRH's age, would have joined Sheev's guard when he was still a Senator. Sure, he's loyal to the Emperor, but I think this shapes the story a lot. I don't think he signed up for everything that came after. I think he's pleased he's assigned to the one child that isn't force sensitive and gets ignored more. He gets to shape them, and have more of an impact on their life.

The sadness and pity when he looks upon HRH after they reveal what they were planning, I think he's upset that they cannot deny that part of them that is a Palpatine, that is so ruthlessly ambitious it consumes them. He's like, why can't you just play it safe, be an archaeologist, not a murderer/politician/warlord? Why isn't this good enough for you? And he is very explicitly worried about the correct problem, which is: HRH doesn't have the Force, therefore isn't a threat. If they are known to interact with the Inquisitor, or WORSE, form a personal relationship that could undermine the master/acolyte relationship between the Emperor and the Inquisitor, they are gaining access to the force AND becoming a huge threat.

For Vanyiel, the relationship is much newer, but I think she is starting to warm up to HRH for giving her her identity back. But she also has seen the Inquisitorius and the dark deeds that they do up close. Of course HRH is familiar with the Sith and what the Inquisitors and Emperor get up to, but they were raised in that, I don't think it bothers them. They also haven't necessarily seen it first-hand, only discussed it, been familiarized with it casually. Vanyiel has not seen that side of the Emperor, because he doesn't show it much, but she has a reason to fear the Inquisitors.

So all this being said, the aftermath would really damage HRH's relationships with both of her closests "friends"/advisors. However, they also legitimately care about what their guards think of them. I think up until this point, HRH has been a really calculated, rational person, so to see them slip up this badly and come completely unhinged would be a total shock. Even to HRH. I do think Vanyiel would stick with them, and not tell the Emperor what they had done. But HRH would have to work hard to rebuild her trust. Renson probably gives them a really stern lecture, but I think HRH would be a little broken too. Once separated from the moment, I think they would totally fold from their mistake. They really, really botched their future plans. Maybe they would finally realize that they will NEVER get approval from their father, and instead should seek to better their relationship with the real guiding figures in their life that actually care about them, Renson and Vanyiel.

Personally, I like to think about a afab HRH having a little bit different fate ultimately, should this encounter leave them a little more "burdened" than they came in. That they might, after delivering Exegol to the Emperor, beg to be given exile as a reward. So that they might live out a quiet life as an archeologist, assigning Vanyiel to be their child's Head Guardian, and just learn to live in peace with what they have, under Renson's guidance. So ultimately, a happy ending for them, I think. Just a rocky middle. But I don't necessarily think that fate is set in stone, just one I like to think about for them.

I feel like this episode has me completely flipped around! Like I don't know what I expected but it totally surprised me!!! MAHORO THE GOAT 🐐💯😆 I love her so much!!! What a badass!!!! She's so fucking cool, lol.

Like, okay thought one: I am so much more fascinated by Mahoro now! I want to know everything about her, what's her background? how does she see the world and everyone around her??? Like, I always liked her, but before it was mostly because she was funny? (+ great character design obvi) her disdain for arajin, her screaming in matakara's face. Idk like i was def still curious about her, esp after that sweet moment with Matakara, relating over their brothers. but soooo much more now! How did she grow up? Why is she so attached to her brother? She's trying her hardest to protect him! What's it like being a girl in that kind of environment? Especially a cute girl. How did her thing with getting her brother to beat guys up start?How does she feel about the whole gang culture? Who does she respect and who does she look down on? I just want to explore her brain forever...

Thought 2: ARAJINNNNN!!!! AH FUCK HE'S SUCH A MESS BUT-- Okay the part that really caught me off guard, like I did not see that coming was Mahoro standing up to (what's his fuck? shindo?) and THAT being what inspired Arajin to overcome his weakness!!!!! It's so interesting to not do the expected dynamic of Matakara going down again and that being the catalyst. But it makes so much more sense! Like his most shameful moment playing out in front of him and someone ELSE showing him how to overcome it! SPECIFICALLY AS SOMEONE WHO IS WEAKER THAN THE THREAT (because Mahoro has not been shown to be someone who fights, and she didn't even try to) STANDING UP TO THAT THREAT ANYWAY!!! and Arajin being able to follow her lead!!!! It's so much more honest to how shame operates and what it actually takes to be brave. Also, that Mahoro may have seen him in a new light because he wasn't being the conflict-averse simp she thought he was, someone who "needs others to tell them who they are". very cool. I can't wait to see how their dynamic changes in the future.

Third thought: obviously Obviously the last moment between Matakara and Arajin 😭😭😭😭😭 oh my god I'm never getting over this. "I wasn't the one who didn't give up" goooooddddd 😭😭😭 it's such a loaded line oh my god.

Also the whole half episode flashback of Outa and Marito????? I could literally die, I'm so obsessed with them. They have like, one of my favorite types of dynamics, relationship & character wise. and marito's design is SO FUCKING PEAK i wanna be him

THE ANIMATION OMG. The run animation at the OPENING to the episode was sooo delicious omgggg i was like damn okay here we fucking goo! Like i seriously think that opening shot has stuck with me the most. It's so stylized, so emotive, so impressive! what a good opening to the episode! But the whole episode was fucking Gorgeousssssss.

Alsoooo poor baby Matakara all beat up and injured 👀🙂 awwww...poor guy. i did not enjoy seeing him hurt at alllll 🙈😈 don't want to see him all pathetic getting nursed back to healthhh... that would suck. no one should draw that or write fic about it....🫣

I seriously can't wait to see where the story goes next. I need to know more about ichiya and senya, i NEED to see Matakara's moment from the OP, do you think his brother is coming home soon? I feel like next ep or two honestly... ugh I'm having so much fun honestly

I FINALLY HAVE! Had the most exhausting weekend bleh, but oh my god I ADORED THIS EPISODE??? I don't even have words, I just finished watching and I'm STILL processing everything that went done, but OH MY GOODNESS? First of all, Mahoro??? I LOVE HER. The way she didn't even flinch? Incredible, iconic, brilliant. I cannot express enough how much I adore the fact she still has no interest in Arajin.

AND THEN ARAJIN! His moment was BRILLIANT, his fear and bravery, being moved by Mahoro, and the FIGHT was EPIC. The animation for fighting is so yummy, I can't even begin, but Matakara and Arajin's little moment is INCREDIBLE TO ME. I love how Arajin still acts how he usually does around him, seemingly surface level indifference but he still cares so much. And that line, "I'm not the one who didn't give up though", to Matakara's praise is chef's kiss to me. Their dynamic is 10/10 I love seeing it slowly progress, and the first semblance of Arajin somewhat actually communicating. I am going to analyze that line to pieces.

BUT AAA! These are first the first main thoughts ping-ponging around my head and I would love to know your thoughts. To me, this episode was so incredible, the flashbacks, dynamics, epic moments, WERE JUST SO GOOD.

Only 4 routes? Heeeeh? I agree though, why not make 2 girls an option? I really have no idea what kind of girl they'll make, but Priya was not my type. She was really pretty, like gorgeous! But a little too forward and vigilante for me. Her personality would have clashed with mine. I just want the option for a normal, soft, cute girl. Maybe quiet and soft spoken. :"3 Kind and affectionate. Eeeeeee~ X"3 ♡♡♡ or someone funny and cheerful. (*gasp* glasses?)

Can we please bring back Thomas? Is he too old now? He was soo cool! I really wanted him to take a more pronounced role in the game. Ooooooooooh, duuuude, imagine Thomas taking a similar role to what Iris did at the beginning? Wouldn't that be a neat call back?

When she says first characters show up, like... Principal Shermansky? Mr. Faraize? I hope the old guys show up, but I doubt it. Can we see Iris? Please~ ♡♡♡

(Please yes, I am aware that Crane looks terrible- I’m still trying to learn how to draw kfp style so please bare with me -_-’)

Backstory: Jian lived happily in a cheetah village up until he was 7 years old, when a genocide laid on his village. He was severely injured, (as shown above, Jian's scars are still visible) but thankfully survived. His parents however sadly didn't make it. Jian travelled the far lands of China, grabbing what he could to survive, almost risking jail a few times just for stealing a apple or 2, until a flock of exotic birds (yes, birds. You read it right) found him wandering the streets of gongmen city, and took him in as their own. Jian soon grew attached to the birds and gongmen city, along with the idea of Kung fu. The reason he grew attached was because of watching Master Crane and the dragon warrior fight for Jian's city in the battle of lord Shen. He knew that Kung fu would teach him how to defend and avenge the innocent, and went to the Kung fu council and begged them to teach him. After a lot of convincing, he was brought under the authority of master croc and master ox. The 3 learned pretty quickly that Jian was more experienced with sword fighting, and he soon became a noble warrior and student, protecting his home from bandits and/or intruders!

Fun facts: -Jian is actually Chinese for sword -though he loved all Kung fu masters, he was more intrigued by master Po and master crane -the flock of birds that raised Jian are actually from Spain in Europe, but fled because they were in hiding from some lion mafia, so they taught Jian Spanish and English, while he taught them more Chinese. So Jian is tri-lingual -Jian found out he was actually gay because of his sudden and hidden crush on Crane -the person who caused the cheetah genocide is actually another OC I'm planning to be the next villain -Jian actually has a lazy eye! If you look closely enough in both Jian's eyes you could see that his left eye is set a little lower than his right

"oh, yeah! I've known these guys for as long as I can remember! these birdies have helped me so much! I guess... that's probably why I grew attached to you." Jian to Crane about the birds

"OH MY GOODNESS! y-YOU'RE THE MASTER CRANE!! EEEEEEE!!! i-if only you could understand how much of a big deal you are to me! I-I've seen how majestic you look while you were fighting those wolf bandits in the battle of Shen and it was just... WOW! ya know what I mean?" Jian to Crane for the first time

"*spins swords* yeah, I'm pretty much an expert when it comes to this baby- *accidentally bonks his head and massages it* ....ow....." Jian to Monkey and Mantis

"*is on Crane's back* w-wait! c-could you take it easy there, Master Crane? I'm... *Crane soars high into the air* I'm afRAID OF HEIGHTS!!!!" Jian to Crane

"hahaha! you think a little blood is gonna scare me!? well guess what?... BECAUSE OF YOU, I LIVED IN BLOOD! YOU CAN'T FUCKING SCARE ME ANYMORE!" Jian to up coming villain OC
